Who should NOT take this test?
This test may not be helpful if you:
- Currently have severe symptoms that limit your daily activities. Seek medical attention right away if this is the case.
- Do not have symptoms and have not been exposed to COVID-19.
- Note: If you are a healthcare professional, consult your place of work for guidance about testing, whether you should stay home, and when you should return to work. You should follow the testing recommendations set forth by your employer as they may differ from the CDC’s guidelines.
What is the process for me? Is there a screening?
Once you use the materials included in the kit to safely collect the sample, use the included overnight shipping materials to return the sample to our CLIA-certified partner lab. You must send your sample on the same day you collect. Once received by the partner lab, your sample will be processed within 1-2 business days, and the test taker will be notified when their results are ready. Results will be securely delivered to you through an easy-to-understand report on our secure online platform.
Does this test have an Emergency Use Authorization (EUA)?
Yes, and you can view them here and here.
Where is this test available?
This test kit is available in 48 states. Our test kit is not available in the states of New York and New Jersey.
What does this test measure?
Physician 360™’s COVID-19 Saliva PCR Antigen Test is an rt-PCR test that looks for the presence or absence of unique genomic markers of the SARS-CoV-2 virus using a saliva sample for sample collection.
How do I prepare for the test?
You do not need to do anything to prepare for at-home collection, but make sure you don’t eat, drink, chew gum or smoke for 30 minutes prior to collecting your saliva specimen.
How do I collect a COVID-19 sample from home?
Physician 360™’s COVID-19 Saliva PCR Antigen Test will come with everything you need to collect a sample at home (generally in five minutes or less) and safely ship your sample to a CLIA-certified laboratory. You will use the provided materials to collect a saliva sample.
In order to get your sample to our labs as quickly as possible, we provide a prepaid mailer. Check your return label to determine if your package will be shipped via USPS or FedEx or UPS.
YOUR SAMPLE WILL BE REJECTED IF YOU:
- Fail to put the sample in the collection device
- Fail to put the sealed tube in the biohazard bag
- Drop off in a USPS or FedEx or UPS box on Saturday or Sunday, or after the last pickup of the day
- Schedule a USPS or FedEx or UPS pickup or drop your sample at a USPS or FedEx or UPS office location rather than a drop box
When will I get my results?
Results will be available ~72 hours after sample collection. Your digital results will be available within 24-48 hours of the lab receiving your sample.
What happens if I don’t collect my sample right?
If you are not able to provide an adequate sample, it is possible that our lab will not be able to determine your test results. A member of the Physician 360™ will reach out to help you determine next steps and likely recommend that you self-quarantine to avoid community spread if you are experiencing symptoms.
We aim to make sample collection as simple and straightforward as possible through printed instructions in your kit, as well as digital and video instructions on our website. Our customer care staff is available on our website chat box if you have any questions.
Is it safe to send COVID-19 samples in the mail?
Physician 360 provides detailed instructions in our kit and online for safe collection and transport of samples. We provide the appropriate shipping materials to safely ship samples to our partner labs following the recommendations provided by the United Nations Committee of Experts on the Transport of Dangerous Goods (UN).
We recommend that our customers wash their hands thoroughly, disinfect surfaces where they will be completing their test and use the provided alcohol prep pad to disinfect the shipping sleeve before placing your sample in the mail (though be sure to not wipe the shipping label which could impact legibility).
What will my results tell me?
This test kit will tell you whether you have tested positive for COVID-19, also known as SARS-CoV-2 Coronavirus.
What happens if my results are positive?
If you have a positive test result, it is likely that you have COVID-19 as false positive results with these tests are unlikely. Individuals with positive results may initiate a telehealth consult with a Physician 360™ board-certified medical provider, who will work with you to determine how best to care for you based on the test results along with medical history, and your symptoms.
Treatment includes managing symptoms and limiting your exposure to other people to protect from spread of disease.
Your results will be reported to state public health authorities. This information helps track the spread of COVID-19. Your results will not be shared with your insurance company or any other healthcare providers unless you choose to share your results.
What happens if my results are negative?
The test can sometimes show a negative result even if you are infected with SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19. A false negative can happen when:
It is too early in infection for the test to detect the virus.
If your sample was not shipped back to our lab the same day it was collected.
If your results are negative and you’re having symptoms, continue to follow isolation precautions and ask your healthcare provider if you need further testing.
If your results are negative and you don’t have any symptoms, continue to monitor for any symptoms up to 14 days after your last possible exposure.
